Did you pay attention in physics class? According to a recent CNN article Christian Louboutin says the magic behind his amazingly beautifully designed shoe is in the science of the heel.
I mean think about— how can a 6 inch heel hold all women of all sizes with breaking?
According to Louboutin, if it is not exactly inside the center of gravity position, inside the gravity line, the weight would make you flip out behind, or the weight would make you break the heel and fall forwards. Who’d a thunk it— science meets fashion, it’s like Einstein meets eh— Anna Wintor.
There’s truly unique engineering work that goes into creating the heel of a shoe. Aspect rations, the curvature— I mean we’re no scientist, but that’s pretty amazing.
We’re all fans of American Idol here at Rag Trade Disciples. So much, in fact that we jumped for joy when this season’s Idol lowered the age bar for auditions and allowed 15 year olds to compete. This season had tons of great youngsters on its roster that at one point included tons of 90s babies including 16-year olds Lauren Alaina, Thia Megia, Brett Loewenstern and tons others that didn’t even make it to the top 24 :: sigh::
So with all this 16-year old success, we are wondering are the Rebecca Black’s and Justin Bieber’s of the world the new dawn of pop music?
Chime in below.
An Era to Remember
Creating a blockbuster hit is only half the battle. Costume design and wardrobe can play such a major impact in the success of a film, of course when all other important factors are in place.
It looks like the roaring 20’s will have to take a backseat, because there’s a new sheriff in town.
Forget the flapper girls and zoot suits for a moment. Beautifully designed and constructed garments in such films as Atonement and The Purple Rose of Cairo are great examples of how structured garments can transform into soft and romantic pieces with the help of beautiful and romantic backdrops and cinematography that’s just right. Cue any romantic scene in Life is Beautiful.
According to this recent Wall Street Journal Article the 1930s look is dominating as a fan favorite on recent runways.
Both Balenciaga and Miu Miu featured 30s inspired clothing in their dazzling fall runways. Ahh the 30s makes us all want to make a trip to our nearest vintage store in search of treasure. What about the cinematography and musical backdrop you ask? It will all come into play once you step outside wearing your vintage 1930s yellow peacoat. Viva la 30s.
Tell us, what’s your favorite movie of the 1930’s era?
